The session is designed for participants wanting to take an initial exploration into social enterprise or those thinking about starting a social enterprise. The facilitators will lead participants in a discussion about what social enterprise is, why start a social enterprise, the potential community impacts, explore organizational readiness, and review the development path of social enterprise planning. Explore the perspectives of business models including retail, wholesale, services and goods; non-profits, co-ops, hybrids and for-profits options; and the perspectives of outcomes from employment to arts, revenue generation, food security, social capital and more.
